A waiting day

You risk getting a waiting day (karensdag) for the first time in October

Please note that if you have been unemployed for 4 months or longer, you risk getting 1 days’ worth of benefits deducted from your payment in October. This is called a waiting day.

In order for you to avoid this, you must work for more than 148 hours within the period of 4 months. This counting happens every 4 months.

The rule concerning waiting days is a part of the unemployment benefit reform that became effective on July 1st 2017.
