Change Your Status When You Finish Your Studies

You must let us know if your graduation date changes. That way, you avoid getting charged for membership while you’re still a student.

When you sign up as a student member, you provide an expected graduation date for your studies. Of course, this date might change, so when you’re approaching the end of your studies, please inform us of the exact date.

That’s the date from which you’ll be eligible for unemployment benefits (dagpenge) and the date you’ll start paying membership fees. You’ll inform us of the exact date when you change your status from student member to new graduate.

You must also change your status if you’re done with your bachelor’s degree but continue to study for your master’s degree

If you complete your bachelor’s degree but continue to a master’s degree, you’ll also need to change your status from student member to new graduate. On the form, you can state that you’ll continue studying for your master’s degree.

Once you’ve changed your status to that of a new graduate, we’ll make sure your free student membership continues to cover your master’s studies.

Extend your free student membership if you postpone your studies by more than one month

If you postpone completing your studies by over a month, you must extend your free student membership. You can do this by filling out the Forlængelse af gratis studiemedlemskab form on Mit AKA, where you’ll state your new expected graduation date.

This way, we’ll have up-to-date information about your studies, and you won’t be charged for your membership while you’re still a student.
