Availability

When you receive unemployment benefits, you must be available to the labour market. This simply means that you must actively search for jobs that you can perform, and accept job offers and Active employment measures from the job centre .

Being available means that you:

  • Search for work you can perform – both within and outside your field - from your first day of unemployment. This includes applying for advertised positions, sending unsolicited applications, and networking.
  • Are obligated to accept work that we or the job centre refers you to with one day's notice. Therefore, it is important that you check your mail daily and that you reside and stay in Denmark.
  • Are able and willing to work 37 hours a week on standard salary and employment conditions. If you are part-time insured, you must be available for up to 30 hours of work a week.
  • Must be prepared to search for and accept jobs that involve up to 4 hours of total daily commute by public transportation.
  • Must seek full-time employment if you are working reduced hours and receiving supplementary unemployment benefits.
  • Must have arranged for your children’s care during day care hours if you have children. If you do not have arrangements for their care outside of daycare hours, you must inform us. After 3 months of unemployment, you must inform the job centre. If you have not informed us/job centre, you may be offered jobs and Active employment measures  outside of daycare hours. If you refuse work or activation due to care issues you have not informed us/job centre about, you risk getting a 3-week quarantine.

Additionally, there are requirements for your job search  and your participation in meetings.
