Set up a strategy to guide your job search

A well-structured daily routine and a solid job search plan can help you stay focused and motivated while looking for a job.

Decide what you want to work with. Reflect on your strengths, skills and passions. And be realistic, so you don’t aim too high.

Perhaps you shouldn’t just aim for your dream job but also look for positions that provide you with experience that will prepare you for the next step in your career.

Organise your job search

It’s vital that you stay motivated. Think of your job search as work requiring up to 37 hours a week. For example, you can make weekly plans, so you know what needs to be done. This could include applying for three new jobs, updating your LinkedIn profile, and having lunch with an old colleague.

You can also attend after-work meetings, workshops, or conferences in your professional organisation or Akademikernes A-kasse. Many people find fresh energy and inspiration in new external insights.

Keep your spirits up

It’s normal to feel disappointed when you don’t get the job. Do your best not to take it personally. Be mindful of where you draw your energy from, remember to exercise, get plenty of fresh air, and make sure to celebrate both your big and small successes.

You can also re-evaluate your strategy if you don’t feel it’s working. Don’t be too proud to ask for help and input from others. We at Akademikernes A-kasse are always ready to help.
