Employment requirement

Employment Requirement (beskæftigelseskrav)

As a member of an unemployment insurance fund (a-kasse), you are generally eligible to receiving unemployment benefits if you become unemployed. However, there are certain requirements you must meet, one of which is the employment requirement.

The employment requirement (beskæftigelseskrav) is relevant if you previously received unemployment benefits and need to re-earn the right to a new period of benefits. This means that you must have been employed for the equivalent of 1 year of full-time work (1,924 paid hours) within the last three years, and you must be a member of an unemployment insurance fund.

The hours are accumulated from paid employment and/or self-employment.

If you have not previously received unemployment benefits, you must meet the income requirement.
