Employment requirement

Employment Requirement (beskæftigelseskrav)

The employment requirement applies if you have previously received unemployment benefits and need to requalify for a new benefit period. You meet the employment requirement if you have worked the equivalent of 1 year of full-time employment (1,924 paid hours).

How your hours count

Your working hours contribute to meeting the employment requirement if:

  • they are reported to the income register at the Danish Tax Authority (Skat). Your employer is responsible for reporting your hours to Skat.
  • they fall within your current unemployment benefit period, or
  • they fall within the last 3 years from the day you register as unemployed on jobnet.dk

Be aware of expired hours

Generally, a paid hour expires if it was reported more than 3 years before the date you register as unemployed on jobnet.dk. Expired hours cannot be counted towards the employment requirement.

If all paid hours are expired

If you have no valid paid hours in the most recent benefit period when you register as unemployed on jobnet.dk, you must instead meet an income requirement.
