Notice period

Notice period (opsigelsesperiode)

If you resign from a job or are terminated by your employer, you typically have a notice period (opsigelsesperiode). A notice period is a span of time, usually a specific number of months, during which you must continue to fulfil your role in the workplace.

The length of the notice period is usually regulated by law and gives both you and your employer the opportunity to find a new job and a new employee, respectively, within that period.

You can get help with your job search even though you are terminated/released and are not yet able to register as unemployed. As a member of Akademikernes A-kasse, you have access to online courses, digital tools, and one-on-one coaching that can help you find your next job.
