When you have found a job
Once you have a job, you must deregister as unemployed (ledig) on jobnet.dk from your first day of work.
First and foremost, congratulations on your new job!
You must inform us when you have agreed to a new job, and there are fewer than six weeks until your first day of work. That way, we can register that you are exempt from job searching and attending meetings.
If you have been unemployed for three months and your job search process (jobsøgningsforløb) has been transferred to the job centre, you must contact the job centre about this.
An exemption from job searching and attending meetings means that until your first day of work, you will no longer be required to:
- Attend meetings with us or the job centre unless you choose to do so.
- Search for jobs.
If you have already booked a meeting with us that you no longer wish to attend, please cancel it. You can cancel meetings on Mit AKA under ’Mine Mødeaftaler’ (my appointments).
However, if you have been summoned for an availability interview, you still need to attend it. Such interviews cannot be cancelled.
Should you wish to cancel appointments or active employment measures (aktivering) with the job centre, you must arrange this directly with them.
You are, however, obliged to accept any suitable work you are referred to – either by the job centre or us – if they/we have assessed that you can perform the role until you are no longer unemployed.
Please note that the exemption from job searching and meetings only applies once we (or the job centre) have been informed that you have secured employment and there are fewer than six weeks until your first day of work.
Remember to update your job log until you are exempt from job searching. This applies even if you receive your exemption mid-week – in which case, you must apply for at least one job during that week.
Notify us of your new job and apply for exemption from job searching
If your job search process is with us, you can notify us that you have found a job via Mit AKA.

Deregister as unemployed on jobnet.dk
You must deregister as unemployed on jobnet.dk from your first day of work – not, for example, from the day you sign your employment contract. There is no need to contact Akademikernes A-kasse directly as we automatically receive notification of your new job once you deregister on jobnet.dk.
You do not need to deregister as unemployed if your job is part-time or subsidised (løntilskudsjob)
Instead, please refer to the guidelines on part-time work or wage subsidy jobs as active employment measures (aktivering).
Wage subsidy jobs and active employment measures
Remember to fill in your final benefit card
Remember to submit your final benefit card (ydelseskort) even if you have already started work. If you fail to do so, you will not receive unemployment benefits (dagpenge) for the period between your last unemployment benefit payment and your first day of work.
For example, if your first day of work is on the 15th of November, you should complete and send your final benefit card a week before the last day of the month (i.e. the 23rd of November). You need to answer ”yes” on the benefit card to whether you worked during the period.
You must record all your hours at your new job as ”controllable work” (kontrollabelt arbejde).
After this, you will no longer receive benefit cards.
